CASTING NOTICES

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY

The Good School is a documentary examining the evolving landscape of American education through public, religious, and independent schools that are redefining what effective learning looks like today. The film highlights institutions that move beyond traditional models to emphasize critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and real world problem solving, while fostering strong partnerships between educators, families, and students. Through interviews with school leaders, parents, and students, the documentary explores how these schools balance tradition and innovation, discipline and flexibility, and evidence based practice with human insight to meet the needs of individual learners. Together, they offer a hopeful, grounded portrait of schools creating meaningful, lasting educational success in the twenty first century.

THE ROLE

We are casting two co-hosts / narrators for The Good School, a feature length documentary examining innovative and high performing educational models across public, religious, and independent schools.

The hosts will serve as the intellectual guides of the film, traveling to schools, framing questions, and providing connective narration. Each brings a distinct professional lens, allowing the documentary to explore education from complementary perspectives. Their interaction should feel curious, informed, and grounded, not performative or adversarial.

Think thoughtful dialogue, not debate. Contrast, not conflict.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are seeking two individuals whose backgrounds and temperaments naturally balance one another.

Strong pairings may include:

  • An educator or school leader paired with a journalist or researcher

  • A policy or legal professional paired with a classroom practitioner

  • A data driven thinker paired with a systems or culture focused voice

Collectively, the hosts should demonstrate:

  • Intellectual rigor and mutual respect

  • Comfort engaging unscripted conversations

  • The ability to challenge ideas without posturing

  • Clear communication and calm on camera presence

  • Genuine curiosity about how different educational models succeed

Prior hosting, narration, or documentary experience is strongly preferred for at least one of the two roles.

NOT A FIT IF YOU

  • Are looking to be a part of a comedic duo or banter driven pairing

  • Are positioned for conflict or “gotcha”

  • Are an influencer or branded personality

  • Are an activist or commentator seeking airtime for a cause
